Weighing in at 172 pounds, standing 6'1", Eric Wynalda is USA's all-time leading scorer with 33 goals. Wynalda was born June 9, 1969 in Fullerton, California. His father (Dave) played football at Princeton, and his hometown was Westlake, California.

Wynalda started off his soccer career at Westlake Village High School, where he achieved status of first team All-State for three years in high school. He then went on to play on the youth national soccer team. He attended college at San Diego State University, where he played for three years, and earned San Diego State's Freshman Athlete of the Year award.

He played professional soccer in San Francisco from 1990-92 and then moved to Germany and played professional soccer from 92-95. In 1996 Wynalda decided it was time to come back to America and play for the major league soccer organization. He scored Major League Soccer's first goal in a 1-0 win over D.C. United in 1996, and earned the award for the goal of the year. In total, Wynalda played 110 MLS matches scoring 36 goals, contributing 39 assists for a combined total of 111 points.

Wynalda has experienced three World Cups (1990, 1994 AND 1998) and in 2000 won the award "Honda Player of the Decade". He is nickname is Waldo, and is currently married to Amy, who also used to play soccer for SDSU. Eric and Amy had their first child in 1999.
