This is an introductory course in the use of word processing software, more specifically in the use of the Microsoft Office 2003 word processing application, WORD.  This class is a 1/2 –credit, P/W class.  Your successful completion of the class will depend upon your attendance on January 3 and January 5, from 1 – 5 p.m., your class participation, and the completion of some practice labs.  This is basically a hands-on class.  We will meet in a computer lab where the instructor will present and demonstrate word processing concepts, and then guide students through a variety of tasks at the computer using the Word software.  Following are the objectives and an outline of the word processing concepts that will be covered

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

Ø      Create a simple document, save a document, use Microsoft Word’s automatic text features for entering text, and access online help

Ø      Make changes to an existing document using a variety of editing techniques

Ø      Apply text formatting to a document

Ø      Change the appearance of a document by applying various paragraph formats and effects

Ø      Create a table, navigate and enter text in a table, and enhance its appearance through formatting

Ø      Add graphic elements to a document

Ø      Control a document’s page setup and its overall appearance
