CA 103B                                       Intro to Spreadsheets                                 Spring, 2006

 

This is an introductory course in the use of spreadsheet software, more specifically in the use of the Microsoft Office 2003 spreadsheet application, EXCEL.  This class is a 1/2-credit, P/W, class.  Your successful completion of the class will depend upon your attendance on January 10 and January 12, your class participation and the completion of either some practice labs or a project related to your work.  This is basically a hands-on class.  We will meet in a computer lab where the instructor will present and demonstrate spreadsheet concepts, and then the student will accomplish a variety of tasks at the computer using the Excel software.  Following is an outline of the word processing concepts that will be covered

Ø      Create a basic worksheet by entering text and values

Ø      Modify a worksheet

Ø      Perform calculations on data by using formulas, including functions

Ø      Change the appearance of worksheet data by using a variety of formatting techniques

Ø      Develop a workbook

Ø      Print the contents of a workbook

Ø      Customize the layout of the Excel window
