This is an introductory course in the use of Database Management software, more specifically in the use of the Microsoft Office 2003 database application, ACCESS. This class is a 1/2 –credit, P/W class. Your successful completion of the class will depend upon your attendance on Tuesday, January 17 and Thursday, January 19 from 1 – 12 p.m., your class participation, and the completion of some practice labs. This is basically a hands-on class. We will meet in a computer lab where the instructor will present and demonstrate database concepts, and then lead the students through a variety of tasks at the computer using the Access software. The class will be a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands on. The text we are using is Access 2003, Level 1, Michael Sullivan, published by elementK Press. Following are the objectives and an outline of the database concepts that will be covered.
