As one of WNCC's Employee Training Center personnel who serves
area employers I am often asked questions by representatives from
businesses, industries, government agencies, and nonprofit
organizations about educational or training
opportunities for their employees. This page is devoted to
answering
some of the most frequently asked questions
received either on the telephone or as personal inquiries at the
Fallon
campus.
| What kind of training do you provide? |
We
can provide training that is specific to the needs of your employees,
for credit or for non-credit, and on-site at your facility or on campus
at ours. Adaptability and flexibility are the keys to our
philosophy. We are here to serve YOU and YOUR EMPLOYEES. |
| Can you give some examples of the kind of training you have provided or can provide? |
We
have provided or can provide specific topics taught under these general
categories: customer service (eg., first impressions and personal
power, coping with difficult customers, effective telephone
techniques, etc.); supervision and management (eg., communication
basics, creating a motivational climate, effective teamwork, etc.)
; industrial safety (e.g., hazardous materials, confined space,
lockout/tagout, etc.); computer applications (eg., MS Office, Adobe
Acrobat, Quick Books, etc.); and pre-employment skills and workplace
excellence. These are just a sampling of what we are prepared to do. In
addition, we can develop workshops or classes that meet the particular
needs of your group. |
| How much does training cost? | If
the training is offered for credit, the usual fees apply. In the fall
2006 semester, tuition fees are $52.50 per credit and technology fees
are $4 per credit, for a total of $56.50 per credit. In addition,
a class may have a lab fee attached to it to pay for supplies used by
the enrolled students. If the training is offered for non-credit,
a per hour rate is usually negotiated with the company, agency, or
organization. In the latter case, every effort is made to provide
training at affordable prices. Non-credit training can last as little
as two hours or as much as 40 hours, depending on the type that is
needed and requested. |
