Bisnoni, Bisnono and their children continued to live in the duplex with Catine, Fredo and their family throughout the 1940's. They were all proud members of the Friulani Club and enjoyed dancing, singing, eating and drinking at the many parties the Friulanis threw. Bisnono often brought bottles of homemade wine to the Friulani Club parties. Bisnoni was well known at these parties for her beautiful singing voice!
However, a dark cloud must have shaded those days for Bisnoni because World War II was being fought in Europe and in the Pacific. Bisnoni must have been very worried about her relatives in Italy during that time. This picture was taken of Bisoni some time in the 1940's.
The following links will help you to understand more about World War II and why Bisnoni was so worried about her family in Italy during that time.
During World War II, something called the Holocaust occurred. Millions of European citizens were sent to extermination camps by Nazis located all over Europe. One person who was sent to an extermination camp was a German, Jewish girl named Anne Frank. Click here to see pictures and read about her story.

Though most of these extermination camps were in Germany and Poland, the only camp in Italy was located just outside of Trieste, not very far from Bisnoni's hometown of Buia. It is called the Riseria de San Sabba - meaning the Rice Mill of San Sabba. Click here to see a picture of the building. You may wish to visit the link posted at the bottom of this page and read some of the survivors' stories.
