  • The Princeton Review online provides resources that can help you choose a graduate school, prepare for entrance exams, or search for a new career.
  • The Wall Street Journal has a careers site.
  • The Reno Gazette Journal has local job listings.  Other online sources include Job Openings at UNR, State of Nevada jobs, and job openings at Truckee Meadows Community College.
  • America's Job Bank links the 1,800 State Employment Service offices. It provides job seekers with the largest pool of active job opportunites.
  • Catapult links to job listings, internships, post graduate options, and provides information on help guides and career library resources.
  • College Grad Job Hunter is an online version of the print guide. It is designed to give college students and college graduates one-stop shopping for jobs on the Internet.
  • Contact Center Network is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization which has the most comprehensive directory of nonprofits resources on the Internet, with links to over 5,000 sites arranged by issue and geographic region.
  • USAJobs is an online government job listing - the code under current openings by series for economists is 0110, and for economics assistant is 0119.  You might also look for statistician (1530) or statistical assistant (1531) positions.
  • FedWorld contains a service which allows you to search a database of about 1,500 U.S. Government job announcements updated 5 days a week.
  • Federal Jobs Database is a database of federal jobs searchable by geographic region and keyword. An international job search capability is also accessible.
  • The United Nations Office of Human Resources Management lists jobs for the UN.
  • JobWeb is sponsored by the National Association of Colleges and Employers; this site provides information about entry level jobs as well as industry information.
  • Westech maintains a Virtual Job Fair for high tech positions.
  • Guide to Job Resources on the Internet (Riley)
  • A listing of job resources in such areas as business, internships, government, science, environment, social sciences and many more. Resources are accessable by state and international areas.
  • Online Career Center is an enormous database of job listings which can be search by geographic regions or keywords. There is a resume bank where one can submit your resume at no cost via email.
  • CareerPath includes job advertisements placed in the following major U.S. newspapers: The Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, San Jose Mercury News, The Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Southern Florida Sun-Sentinel. You will need to register your name at no charge.
  • CareerWeb hosts information for both the job seeker and employer/agencies. Also contains database searchable by state and category.
  • Career Builder has a new searchable site.
  • Adams JobBank Online contains current openings listed in computers, finance-consulting, general management, healthcare, office, sales/marketing/pr, education, social work, and technical non computer related.
  • Career Mosiac has listings can be searched by keyword or select a company and view their current available positions. Information about companies are included. Resumes are accepted for inclusion in their resume at no charge.
  • Cool Works includes jobs in national parks, resorts, cruise ships, camps and volunteer positions.
  • Peterson's List of Graduate Schools and Professional Schools includes information for graduate school programs by subject area and location. Information about studying abroad and various language programs are also available.
  • Academic Positions is a list of universities advertising various employment opportunities from teaching positions to administrative and support positions.
  • Foundation Center.  Their mission is to foster public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects.
  • Scholarly Societies Project - a comprehensive list by subject area of scholarly societies which can lead to potential contacts for employment.

  • Business Week has a good online career center, and USA Today has a site called bestjobsusa.
  • Check out Job Bank USA, Local Careers, Changing Channels, Family Friendly Careers, or Romac International's KnowledgeForce Resource.  The Private Industry Council of San Luis Obisbo County, Inc., maintains a good online career resources website, as does the Career Consulting Center from the Texas hill country.  Dice.com has a good site for high-tech careers online.
  • Careerlab has a sample of 200 cover letters for resumes, and you can post your resume at A+ Online Resumes for a fee.  Then there's free help at Ten Minute Resumes.
  • Search Beat - how to start an internet job search, or so they say. A little self-referential.
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook provides job descriptions of more than 300 occupations, that together account for 91 percent of all the jobs in the nation.
  • WetFeet allows visitors to research companies in numerous industries.
  • SEC Public Company Information has a database called EDGAR that allows the user to search all publicly-held companies and obtain information about the company and their recent financial report.
  • U.S. Industrial Outlook.  Published by the U.S. Department of Commerce, this site provides a solid foundation on which to examine the economic trends in various industries and provide career options.
  • Yahoo-Business and Economy-Companies, a large listing of organizations and companies arranged by broad subject category.
  • The Monster Board - this site has more than 15,000 unique jobs within their database. The site also includes information about employers. It provides information on their products and services, and employee benefits.
  • National Business Employment Weekly - selected articles take from the online version. There are no job listings included.
  • Big Book - the yellow pages at your fingertips. One can look up any job category, search by state and/or city and get the name of an organization, address, and phone number.
  • Salary Counter.  The calculator allows you to determine salary you would need to make in a new city based on cost of living differences. Make sure you scroll down the page to be able to search cities within a particular state.
