Advanced Photonics Research laboratory

Welcome to the Advanced Photonics Research Laboratory (APRL) at the University of Nevada, Reno. The APRL group performs groundbreaking research in all aspects of the emerging technology in Fiber Optic Communications, Sensor Applications and Sensor Networks, and Photogrammetry. This includes opto-electronic devices, short reach optical interconnects, Metro and long haul network systems. We take designs from "substrates to systems" and perform all prototyping locally at the APRL. The group is organized under the Department of Electrical Engineering and headed by Dr. Moncef. B. Tayahi, Founder of Saturday Academy

About members

Members of the APRL group are specialists in a range of technical areas related to Fiber Optic Communications, Remote Sensor Applications and Sensor Networks. They have a variety of backgrounds that combine to create an environment of unconventional thinking and creative problem solving. This approach is backed up by a solid base of analytical skills and honed by continuous growth through research, discussion, and collaboration inside and outside the Photonics and Sensors communities.
