The road to the world series is always a tough one. Teams go through a grueling 162 game season in pursuit for one thing, a championship ring. The 2002 playoffs included 8 teams: Anaheim Angels, New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, San Fransisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the St. Louis Cardinals. After one week of play the Cardinals swept last year's champs the Diamondbacks. Also, eliminated were the New York Yankees and the Oakland A's. The Giants then went on to beat the Atlanta Braves to move on to the World Series. The Giants took on the Anaheim Angels in their first appearance ever. After a tough series the Angels prevailed and stole a championship away from Barry Bonds and the Giants. For all scores, updates, and highlights visit the official site of Major League Baseball.
