Fishing has become one of my favorite hobbies here in Reno. Before going out you must be sure you have all of the necessary equipment. You will need to bring a pole and some bait, either trout bait, salmon eggs or plain old night crawlers. You will also need to bring some extra tackle along in case you get your line snagged and you have to cut it. So be sure to bring a few hooks, some weights, and a pair of needle nose plyers. And do not forget to bring a cooler so you have something to put the fish in after you catch them. Next, you will have to be aware of the rules and regulations of the place where you are fishing. In order to stay out of trouble be sure to have a license and know the seasons and the daily limit of how many fish you can take with you. Finally, some of the best fishing is done right in our backyard. My favorite spots to go are Mayberry Park (located off of McCarren and 4th St.), Stampede, and Boca (both are up near Truckee). You can also find good spots all along the Truckee River.
