One of my most relaxing hobbies is fly fishing. Fly fishing is different from bait Fishing, mainly because it involves a lot more work. Fly fishing gets it's name from the type of lure used, a fly. Fly fishing is usually done in a river or a stream with trout, such as the fish on the left. Fly fishing is a real thrill because with the weight of the rod used, even a small fish can feel like a whale.
Reno is a great place to live for fly fishing. The Truckee River is a good sized river with plenty of great places to fish. My favorite place along the Truckee is in East Verdi, but I won't say exactly where, because I don't want to give away my secrets.
The Truckee River can be a great place to fish on a nice day. However it can be painfully miserable if it is a nasty day. Always make sure you know what the weather is going to be like before going fishing on the Truckee. As a fly fisherman, the wind is what makes fishing the worst.
Fly fishing is not the only type of fishing that I enjoy though. I really like fishing for bass and blue gills in small lakes. I also like fishing in the ocean for bigger fish like halibut and salmon. The only problem is that I have something wrong with my inner ears, and as a result I can't ever go fishing on the ocean without getting extremely sea sick. Here is a picture of my uncle and a halibut that he caught in the San Francisco Bay four years ago.
